INVEST IN THE 100

The 100 for the 100

The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge has developed a new funding model based on the concept where 100 corporate partners from the Greater Baton Rouge community are identified to participate with the 100 Black Men of Baton Rouge to carry out the mission and goals to build our community by enhancing the lives of our youth.

  • We work with at-risk,  hard-to-reach youth from low income families
  • Over 60 percent of the individuals come from single family households
  • Academically, many of the youth are functioning at below grade level

The Model

The Annual Mardi Gras Gala is replaced with this new fund raising model:

  • Each corporate partner is asked to support by contributing $10,000 per year for three years;
  • A more efficient use of your funds, where approximately 90 percent of the donation goes directly to programs, compared to less than 40 percent were available from the Gala to support programs.

History

For the past 16 years, we have continued to develop and support programs that build our community by enhancing the lives of our youth. Program offerings include the Four The The Future: Education, Health and Wellness, Mentoring, Financial Literacy; and Capitol High School Academies, Two years ago we expanded our efforts by acquiring the charters for Capitol High Academies for Girls and Boys.

Impact

Through your giving, we annually impact more than 500 local youth through our mentoring programs. Approximately 400 students are served in the two academies and more than 1200 students are supported by our ACT Prep and Financial Literacy efforts.

Accountability

We are committed to continuing to deliver relevant and quality programs for our youth.  We ask for your continued trust and financial support to help us sustain and expand these efforts.  We will provide an annual progress report to include:

  • Impacts on the youth of the community;
  • Use of funds and other major successes;
  • Challenges and proposed corrective actions.
