Four For The Future
The Board of Directors of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. has adopted an aggressive plan that will focus on areas deemed critical to our future. This plan is called “Four for the Future”. It will allow us to stay focused on some of the critical areas of need in our communities. These areas are critical to ensuring that our communities are self-supporting and in control of their own destinies.
Mentoring
Youth mentoring should not be limited to giving a few speeches and shaking hands. It’s about sharing our experiences with young people, and providing a listening ear. This will assure them that we are here for the long haul. Mentoring is the cornerstone of what our organization brings to the community, our signature mentoring programs are:
Education
We must never forget that education is essential. All of our B.A.’s, MBA’s and Ph.D.’s are worthless if we are unable to inspire future generations to approach school with the same enthusiasm they show during pep rallies and football games. We take an active role in primary and secondary education. We adopt classes and schools and provide college scholarships. Our current education programs include:
- Village Legacy Education Fund
- 100 Scholarship Program
- Academic Achievement
- Capitol High Academy
Health and Wellness
Passive observance has never been the means of solving problems nor changing the attitudes of our community. Intervention, active involvement and increased communication are staples of the health and wellness initiative. We join with other non-profit organizations, health providers and law enforcement to promote health, drug prevention and safety. The 100 Health & Wellness initiatives are:
- Lets Talk About It, Prostate Cancer
- Men's Health Conference
- Minority Cancer Awareness
- Community Health Fairs
- Anti-Violence Billboard Campaign
- Live in Peace
Economic Development
The “100” considers economic empowerment as a necessary step toward creating a just society. When we think of economic empowerment, we are thinking about the individual's or a community's ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them and ultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. Our program initiatives promote economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth-building and entrepreneurship. Current economic development programs include:
- Capital Middle Magnet School Financial Literacy Program
